Inspired by old historical photographs of maple syrup production from Appalachia to New England & Canada: yoked wooden buckets to carry the sugar water; cooking down the syrup in cast iron kettles over an open fire; whittled elder & sumac spiles with hand-carved troughs like the first Native American maple sugarers; hung metal buckets like the ol' timers; a horse-drawn sled to transport the sugar water to a rustic sugar shack billowing with steam.
